Arcade Math Games:
Making Learning Fun

There are many arcade math games available on the market today but only a few of these provide both genuine learning and good educational value. The Zoombinis is one of the best ones I have encountered.

The Zoombinis

This game features cute little creatures that you need to help through a series of logic puzzles. The graphics are excellent but not to the point of distraction. The characters are cute and generate a sense of attachment in the player, spurring your child to solve the puzzles that are set.

zoombinis There are several episodes to this series, and all have a high replay value. The puzzles are logical (hence the name of the game) and while they do not involve numerical calculations, they will make your child work in a clear, ordered manner that also promotes for trial and error.

WARNING: This is one of the most addictive computer math games for children and adults. You will find that once you start, many hours suddenly evaporate while you're trying to figure out where to put the little guy with the roller skates...

Getting the Best Price

This game is pretty old now so you should be able to pick it up cheaply from just about any online computer games shop. Also, your local computer game store should either have it (in the bargains section) or should be able to get it in for you.

If you're buying online check the postage cost before you buy; some sellers have cheaper postage rates than others and it would serve you well to factor this in to the overall cost.
