Sunshine Solar's
Briefcase Solar Generator

This briefcase solar generator by the British firm Sunshine Solar has been on the market for several years now. Rather than making this device old hat, this is the sign of a quality item.

briefcase solar generator This briefcase sized unit opens up to reveal a hinged amorphous silicon double panel. When in full sunshine the unit generates 13 Watts, which is enough electricity to run a laptop. The company also states that the solar panels can run power tools and even a small bar fridge.

Size And Weight

The Charger measures 330mm x 520mm x 40mm and weighs 4.2kg. It comes with a swag of connection types including male and female cigarette lighter ends.

Durability

The briefcase like design of the unit offers it good protection when not in use. The panels themselves have an excellent lifespan. Amorphous silicon panels can last for up to 10 years in outside conditions. Since the briefcase charger will be exposed to far less sunlight, the panels can be expected to function indefinitely.

Quality

The unit also comes with a three year warranty, which is another sign of good build quality. The use of amorphous silicon has allowed Sunshine Solar to reduce the overall cost of the unit, which is in the vicinity of $150.
