Electric 2 Wheel Scooter:
The Vectrix

The Vectrix electric 2 wheel scooter is a road-performing vehicle that not only offers extremely cheap and reliable transport, but also looks good while it's doing it.

The Vectrix looks the part of a classic ride-on scooter. It has a comfortable 1.5 meter long wheelbase so it won't feel or look as if you're riding a dinky toy. That feeling is added to by the weight of the machine: at 510 lbs (250kg) it's no joke.

Performance is another positive aspect of the Vectrix. The manufacturers state that it will accelerate to 50mph in less than 7 seconds which means you'll well and truly be able to keep up with the traffic. The range of the vehicle is between 35 and 55 miles which doesn't sound like a lot, but in reality it's enough for at least a full day's urban commuting for most people.

Charging

The Vectrix 2 wheel electric scooter can be recharged by plugging it in to any 110 / 220V power point. It comes with its own charging cable and charging unit, so all you need to do is plug and go. Within 3 hours the battery will be over 80% charged, so you could even charge it while you're at work (assuming the boss doesn't mind).

Battery Life

The battery is slated to be good for 1,700 charge / discharge cycles which the manufacturers reckon should last for about 10 years or 50,000 miles. At that point the battery will need to be replaced, but who knows where battery technology will have advanced to by then. One thing is certain though, that replacing the battery in 10 years will be less expensive than it is today.

Convenience

Apart from the low-cost running of the vehicle, it is designed for convenience, comfort and safety. The Vectrix has top performing brakes and suspension, a reverse gear and a lockable under-seat storage compartment that takes a full-face helmet as well as the charging cable, so there's no need to carry either of those around with you. All in all, it's a very considerate design.

Availability

Vectrix scooters are available in most states in the US, so check your local motorcycle dealership to see if they have them or if they can point you to the nearest dealer that does. They are also for sale in many other countries across the world.
