Free Math Puzzle: Down to Nothing


This game is a great free math puzzle which will improve your child's mental subtraction skills.

Objective: To reduce the starting number to zero by subtraction

Number of Players: 2 or more.

Materials required: A pencil, a piece of paper.

How to Play: The starting number is 50. Each player takes it in turns to subtract a number between 1 and 10 from the total. It is best if your child keeps score. A round is completed once the score reaches zero.

The winner is the first player to win five rounds.

Learning: This is an excellent game to promote mental subtraction skills.

Extending the game: This game can be extended by starting at 100 and subtracing any number from 1 to 20. This will sharpen your child's mental two-digit subtractions.
