Nearly all of the producing wells in North Dakota drilled after 2000 are horizontal wells(over 2000). And yes, they are that much better. These wells consistently have initial productions of between 2000 and 3000 barrels per month. First year averages of newly drilled wells on the bakken formation is in the 30,000's
