Just a bunch of Bull

by Dennis
(Montana)

Oil was discovered in Montana years ago and these wells were plugged and most were called "tight holes". They were drilled miles from any means of transportation and would be a down the road project when the time came. Is that time now? I know of a well site in northern Montana that was burned and the remains buried. What does that mean "burn"? Cover up? You decide.

Shutting in oil production
by: Anonymous

Obviously written by someone that knows nothing of what they are talking about. When you drill a well it is on a lease from someone else and often either the state or federal government. Under those leases, if the well can produce in paying quantities (meaning it generages enough revenue to cover its lease operating costs) you have to produce it or lose your lease. If it does not produce state and federal law requires that you permanently plug the well with cement before walking away. Believe me with the myriad of bureaucrats involved in production oversight, there are no conspiracies to shut in production. The only producers that I have seen do that are the government owned companies such as in OPEC. Governments actually do it and and conspiracy theorists blame the oil companies.
