Lubbock, TX Power Company Policy

It makes it hard when the local power company (which is now a monopoly for most inside the city limits) doesn't allow you to hook up your own alternative energy to the grid. Here is a good discussion from the only local solar energy contractor:

In one newspaper article, a Lubbock Power and Light representative said something about how having lots of people hooking up to the grid could make the system unstable. I don't know how other cities do it... Maybe it is more expensive, I don't know. They also have the contract with Xcel energy as discussed in the link.
