Missouri Solar Power Rebates

Missouri solar power rebates are among the most meager in the country. There are no state property tax breaks for installing solar, and only one utility offers a rebate and financial assistance to help homeowners go solar.

Columbia Water And Light (CWL)

CWL is the only utility to offer a significant rebate on home solar panel installations. The amount available is $500 per kW of installed capacity for systems up to 10 kW. While this is not a great deal of money compared to the installation cost of an array, it is better than anything else on offer in the state. CWL also offers rebates for solar water heaters at a similar rate.

This same utility also offers what it calls Super Saver Loans. These very low interest loans are designed to add incentive to purchasing energy efficient and generation equipment, though they do not lower the installation cost for solar and the money still needs to be paid back. For more information about CWL's offers, visit their website.

Other Incentives

There is a swag of utilities that offer residential energy efficiency incentives, so make sure you contact your electricity supplier for details of how to make the most of their program. As for further solar electricity or water heating rebates, at the time of writing none could be found. It may be worth enquiring with your utility whether this is the case for them, but don't hold your breath waiting for a solar PV rebate.

Summary

Unless you are a CWL customer and also have a lot of spare money, the time for investing in a solar installation in Missouri is not now. Definitely take advantage of energy efficiency offers from utilities, but for the moment all that sunshine will just have to go unharvested.
