Practice Maths: Free Multiplication Speed Tests

teaching child mathematics

These practice maths speed tests are great for encouraging the budding mathematician. I have used these with excellent effect. Twelve and thirteen year old Government school students may not be the most thankful people around, but when I hear them say "I'm good at maths now" as a result of my teaching I take that as a personal compliment.

These speed tests come in two groups, the 1x-10x tables tests and the 1x-15x tests. Use whichever tests your child is currently up to.

In class I give students two and a half minutes to complete as many questions as possible. Then I mark them and the students get a score out of 50.

At home you can record the results in a table that you keep stuck to the fridge or somewhere else prominent. This is a good idea for home study. In the class the students compete against each other, but at home the written record will help with motivation to improve between tests.

The 1x to 10x Speed Tests

Here they are:

Speed Test 10a
Speed Test 10b
Speed Test 10c
Speed Test 10d
Speed Test 10e
Speed Test 10f
Speed Test 10g

The 1x to 15x Speed Tests

And now for these:

Speed Test 15a
Speed Test 15b
Speed Test 15c
Speed Test 15d
Speed Test 15e
Speed Test 15f
Speed Test 15g
Speed Test 15h

Feel free to use these at home or at school if you're a teacher. Tell your friends about this resource too!
