The Solar Bug Zapper
The solar bug zapper is another solar garden ornament that makes you scratch your head and wonder. This bug zapper is just a regular zapper powered by a battery that is charged by the solar panels on the top, like most other solar garden ornaments.This one though seems a bit incongruous. Green energy is associated with a desire to contribute to the environment, yet here is a solar powered outdoors bug killer. Aren't bugs part of nature too? My opinion of bug killers aside, a unit like this needs to be considered in the light of build quality and warranty. Personally, I think this item adds about as much to your garden as the solar birdhouse does, which is to say not at all. There are other ways of avoiding bugs, like citronella candles or repellents, that do a better and more environmentally friendly job. An item like this retails for about $25 or more, depending on the quality of the components.
