The PurePowerD
Solar Electric Generator

solar electric generator This trailer mounted solar electric generator is called the PurePowerD. It is basically a solar installation in a trailer complete with deep cycle batteries which are capable of holding 18 hours of charge. The amount of electricity generated is determined by the weather conditions but also by the number of panels. There are three versions available, being 5W, 10W and 20W depending on your needs. The exact specifications of the different models are available here.

The panels fold away when the unit is not in use, and the array can be set up by one person in 5 to 10 minutes. The batteries, charge controller and other circuitry are located in the tray of the trailer. This gives the PurePowerD a nice low center of gravity which makes it stable when being towed behind a vehicle, even at high speeds.

Available For Lease

I am sure they cost a fair bit to manufacture and would be even more costly to purchase. A device like this is not something most people would need on a continuous basis, so buying one would not be a good investment. The company realizes this and so it leases them out. You can contact the company to see if these are available in your area.

Opinion

This is an excellent, functional and above all realistic option for people wanting to avoid the hassles of noise and fuel consumption while still getting very solid power output. While the idea of sticking an array on a trailer seems simple, PurePowerD has made it a commercial reality. Good work.
