Solar Steam Generator: AndaSol-1
This 50 MW concentrated solar steam generator power project is almost complete. Construction is due to finish in mid 2008. This is a parabolic trough type power plant, using exactly the same principles as the Californian 354 MW
SEGS
project. Like the SEGS, this powerplant has an efficient heat storage system of using vats of molten salts. During the night, the salts in the heat storage tanks release heat and so the
steam powered turbines
continue to run.

This project has been built by Flagsol, a subsiduary of Solar Millenium. Flagsol have also commenced a second station AndaSol-2, with completion due in early 2009. AndaSol-3 is also on the drawing board. Between the three projects, carbon dioxide emissions of 152 million kilos per year will be saved.
