FSP's New Solar Storage Battery
FSP has released their latest solar storage battery, a device that slowly recharges a built in battery via a solar panel. This battery can then in turn be used to recharge your devices. It comes fitted with USB input and output options, as well as a mains connection if there's an eclipse or you're in a hurry to charge it.
FSP is a renowned power supply manufacturer for high end computer systems so the build quality of this unit should be of good build quality. Though FSP is a US owned company, this unit is constructed in Taiwan.SpecificsThe unit comes with a solar panel rated at 5V at 30mA. It contains a 4,100 mAh rechargeable battery made from Lithium polymer. To put this battery in perspective, that's roughly the same charge as a pair of reasonable AA batteries. Not fantastic, but still useful. The idea behind this unit is that you leave it somewhere in the sun, like on the dash of your car. The battery then charges throughout the day so you can use the stored energy to recharge other devices later on. The panel does not generate sufficient electricity to run most devices straight from the charger. Size wise it's about the same size and weight as a Blackberry smart phone.
