Sun Run Solar In Massachusetts

California based company Sun Run Solar has made a move into Massachusetts and is now offering excellent rates for long term solar power rental installations that are available to residents.

At present federal solar tax credits are at their best ever level. In addition to this, the funding available for solar installations currently available in Massechusetts makes the schemes offered by Sun Run financially viable for both the company and the home owner.

The Arrangement

Residents who choose to go with the power purchase agreement model offered by Sun Run face an initial assessment and installation cost of $1000. They are then locked into an 18 year agreement at fixed electricity rates from the solar panels. The rates for the solar electricity are lower than those for mains power, between 80 and 90% of the mains rate at the time of writing. Any electricity you use on top of that supplied by the solar panels must be purchased from the grid as normal. The company estimates that the solar array redeems its cost to the homeowner within seven years.

Another advantage of this model is that if damage to or theft of the panels occurs, Sun Run Solar will replace them. The output of the system is also guaranteed with a refund if it does not perform as agreed. The company will be aware if this occurs as they monitor the performance of the systems they install. The agreement also covers the cost of replacement of your inverter as well as the cost of having an electrician replace it.

The company operates through two installers in Massachusetts. Those are Alteris Renewables and groSolar.

Summary

This is a great way to green up your lifestyle without the massive up front cost associated with solar panels. There is the possibility that solar panels will become cheaper over years to come, which may make this deal less attractive as time passes. But given the stability of crystalline silicon solar panel prices over the last decade, this looks to be a great offer.
