The Question is...What do you Mean by Sustainable?

by Sherilyn
(Sullivan, IN)

I don't know a thing about the Bakken Oil Field other then what I've read here, but I would tend to trust the men who have worked in the area over the word of people who are just commenting.

As for the idea that it would be all over the news if it were a solid sustainable find...I'm afraid the author might be a bit naive about the way government and the media work. What incentive would there be for government control if we could meet our own needs on a regular basis?

I don't know what the truth is about these oil reserves, but it is somewhere in the middle of the two positions represented here if it is like most things. I'm sure it isn't sustainable enough that we should feel we can just abandon working on other things like wind and solar power.

Government...
by: Pauli

Who really knows what the government's agendas are? You may be right; perhaps the gov is so tied into large fuel taxes that a substantial find like the Bakken would damage their income base.
