what system does my heater need?

i have built a brick workshop with cavity walls
i would like to be able to have a plug in heater (oil filled radiator or ceramic fan heater 1000w-2000w)
can i have a solar panel on the roof with some sort of inverter with rad plugged into this .i am very confused by all this, seems to be so simple but my mind is a haze. please help i have no idea when it comes to amps and watts conversion etc etc
please please please help
